Identity theft has become the Number One crime in America. Those living in Arizona stand a one in four chance of having their identity stolen, and the Federal Trade Commission predicts in nine to twelve years, every American will be impacted by identity theft in one way or another. 65% of identity theft happens in the workplace. The Federal Trade Commission has issued regulations called the Red Flag Rules. Many businesses are being required to comply with these new laws. Those that are not required to comply are being urged by the FTC to “protect what they collect” and take steps in the workplace to secure private information of their employees, customers and vendors.
